We have never been massive fans for fruit beers. Generally they are very sweet and really like beer at all (the ones we have tried anyway). Kasteel Rouge on the other hand is an absolute crack of a fruit beer. Rather than being a "fruit beer" it is a blend of Kasteel Donker and a quality sweet cherry liqueur.
A perfectly balanced brew that lets the cheery flavour come through but retains a beer taste. This brew has become a mainstay in our Christmas day beer selection and as a desert beer. Sweet yet earthy. Warming and moreish.
Kasteel Rouge is a great introduction into what great fruit beers should be. Sweet yet balanced with warm punch of high ABV alcohol. Try it if you are up for something a little different or even with your cheese and crackers on Christmas day!
